Barbuda
Ruins
Barbuda contains a number of interesting ruins. Highlands House, the remains of an old plantation, is north of Codrington along Highland Road. It offers excellent views across the island. The Martello Tower at the River Fort is another impressive ruin, and is south of Codrington on River Road. The Castle, on Spanish Point, is just a small watchtower, not really worth the bone-jarring drive out there, although the view is nice.

Caves
Barbuda contains some famous caves. Indian Cave, in the north near Two Foot Bay, was used by Taino and Carib Indians and contains petroglyphs from these peoples. Darby Sink Cave is a large, 70-foot deep, 300 foot diameter pit that can be entered by climbing down a talus slope on one side. It has a different micro-climate than the surrounding highlands and contains a “mini-rainforest” of sorts. It can be reached by a 1.2 mile track from the south side of the Highlands House ruins. Many other caves exist on the island, but will require a guide to find.

Diving and Snorkeling
Barbuda is surrounded by a reef of sorts, although it can be too rough to access from shore depending on the winds and tides. Local scuba diving options are limited, so research these in advance. Palaster Reef, off the south point, is probably the best bet for diving, although a boat is necessary. There are also many shipwrecks in the area.
